The Best Home Gym Equipment For Your Exercise Workouts

Home gym equipment provides a way for the average person to target specific muscle groups in the body and increase strength and definition through the use of weight resistance. Of course, much can be accomplished very effectively simply through the use of free weights, barbells and dumbells, but the home gyms tend to keep the weights more organized and compact.

There are three general categories of home gym equipment that are found today and here they are:

  1. The least expensive way to set up a home gym is to find a solid all around machine that uses free weights to accomplish it's exercises. It may not look as sexy or pretty, but a lot can be dome with these type of home exercise machines for very little money. They usually have a bench with bench press stands on one end and perhaps a leg curl device on the other. Other more elaborate models may use pulleys for upper body weight work as well.

  2. The middle ground is staked out by the home gyms that most people think of these days when that term is used, simply because of the repeated ads that air for them on television on a constant basis. The two most famous systems are the Bowflex made by Nautilus and the CrossBow made by Weider, although other quality models are also available too. Instead of using weights at all, these two systems utilize bars that create resistance when bent. One advantage is the neat and portable nature of these units as many of them can fold up and conserve lots of room area when not in use.

  3. The third type of home gym equipment are the machines that use stacked weights instead of either free weights or resistance bars to accomplish their designed exercises. These also tend to be the most expensive of the home gym category too, but many reviewers and users say that they are also the smoothest and comfortable of the group to use. However, they tend to be more bulky too and so may not be an ideal solution for those with limited space.

Any home gym equipment exept those that are woefully under-designed for the wieghts that they must support will do the job for the average exerciser. It's not the machine as much as it is the dedication of the user to consistently using the machine that will lead to success. It's probably best to take into consideration the space that you have to put the gym equipment in your home and then consider the budget that you have to work in as well. By making your decision based on both of those needs you can usually get the best home gym equipment for your personal needs.
